Client-Server allows multiple users to access the same data simultaneously. This is accomplished through a system of record-locking. Whenever one user modifies a record, the record becomes locked to other users. It remains locked until the record is saved or the file is closed by the user. In other words, when a user opens a record and makes changes, initially the changes are temporary. Using Auto Save settings, the changes can be saved instantly, at a specified interval or manually. Once saved, the changes are permanent, the record is unlocked, and other users can modify the record again.

Synchronize retrieves changes made at the server to the local user’s machine. Auto Synchronize is also in the Setup menu. Synchronization will occur at log-in but will usually be necessary again as other users change the data. Synchronization can be set to manual or at fixed intervals of between one and three-hundred minutes.

The server can reside on a volume or on a web disk as long as all your client computers can access the same server data. An external Network Attached Storage (NAS) can be used as the server. Cloud storage drives such as PogoPlug can be used as the server for accessing e7.pan data over the internet. A web disk can be used as the server by creating a secure folder in your web server.
